Questions homeschooling parents ask
What are end of phase assessments for homeschoolers?
They mark the end of a school phase: Grade 3 closes the Foundation Phase, Grade 6 closes the Intermediate Phase and Grade 9 closes the Senior Phase. For a homeschooled child, an end of phase assessment gives you a clear, professional record of where your child is, to guide your planning and to submit to the Department of Basic Education (DBE).
Is the assessment done remotely?
Yes, it is 100% remote. There is no travelling: your child's reading is submitted by video from a familiar, relaxed setting at home, and there is a short online interview with the parent and the learner.
What does the assessment package include?
A baseline assessment in Mathematics, a baseline assessment in First Language (or your language of learning), a report on evidence of learning in the other learning areas, and a clear, professional record you can submit to the DBE and use to guide your planning.
We follow an eclectic or self-curated curriculum. Is this for us?
Yes. This service is built for homeschooling families who follow an eclectic or self-curated curriculum rather than a single packaged one.
